Multicam Editing in Avid Media Composer
Recently I asked two questions on the Avid Media composer forum of problems I have been having I am sure many others editors will run across.
- First problem was trying to move a clip down the timeline to line up with the audio track. The answer was to select the clip and then use the keys “M” & “/” to tap the clip into position.
- Second was deleting an effect between two dissolves, Media Composer likes to delete the transition first before the effect. Answer is to select the clip first and then delete the effect. You can use the segment mode with either the overwrite or the splice in tool.
Avid has finally started working on a pared down version of media composer for those possible used the old Liquid intermediate version of NLE from Avid. The consumer version is Pinnacle, easy to use but always costing you to add effects and plugins. Then you go right into professional MC with the whole gamit of options, this is the direction I went, just diving right into the difficult learning curve of Avid.
Now there is an intermediate option with Media composer First. Not sure the cost but seems it will have a lot of options to create story and worry less about the editing.
Ever wonder what the latest version of Media composer would offer? Here you can compare what each version offers.
